Position Description

    • Position Summary
    • Temporary hourly-intermittent student assistant position available in Housing and Residential Life.

    • Start Date
    • Position available on or after August 1, 2025 and ending on or before May 31, 2026. Possibility of reappointment based on budget, department needs, and job performance.

    • Job Description/Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
      • Assist with special projects for Assistant Director for Residential Education, as needed on a weekly basis.
      • Assist with tabling and Residential Education events which are run out of Academic Hub Space, ei: faculty appreciation, give-a-ways, etc.
      • Using a holistic student support approach, develop and utilize interviewing, conflict resolution and mediation skills, as needed, to triage student issues and concerns
      • Assist with the collection and organization of student data for assessment of RE programs and services.
      • Design shareable visual aids, such as infographics to promote program offerings, and used as recruitment tool.
      • Design shareable visual aids to distribute through VERVE, email, tabling or other means, with success tips and strategies to entire village community.
      • Administrative duties as assigned, tracking use of student services in hub, building report out on utilized services, suggestions for furthering hub offerings.
      • Serve as triage space for students experiencing distress in connection with academic issues, and need immediate support, identity resources and offer support, follow up with success advisor and schedule follow up.
      • Identify campus-wide academic success opportunities, promote and support resident attendance.
      • Develop social media content and presence, work collaborative with Dani/Katie to share out RE happenings, suggest give-a-ways to promote academic hub/services use.
      • Develop and complete passive programming in hub and surrounding spaces. 
      • Implement compassionate care within all encounters and create welcoming environment for all guests.
      • Assist with front desk operations, on an as needed basis.
      • Contribute to the wellbeing and growth of the department, and assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of various programs and procedures.
      • Work with Office Assistant team to complete daily duties and special projects.
      • Maintain accurate daily communication through blog software.
      • Perform receptionist duties including answering phones, returning emails, data entry and reports, filing, re-stocking supplies, printing, copying, distribution of Housing materials, accepting Housing payments and providing receipts, and other duties as assigned.
      • Assist residents and guests by providing accurate and timely information about housing and University services.
      • Make referrals as appropriate, based on training and knowledge of the University.
      • Memorization and knowledge of communication scripts specific to the housing department.
      • Assist with the check-in/check-out processes, as needed.
      • Other duties as assigned.

       

    • Qualifications
    • Preferred Qualifications:
      • Post-baccalaureate level student.
      • Experience working in a professional office or customer service setting preferred.
      • Experience working in a residential setting or mentoring students preferred.
      • Educational background in counseling and/or education, preferred.
      • Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment with students, and staff.
      • Must be available to work Monday-Sunday between the hours of 8:00a.m.-11:00p.m.
      • Adhere to established work hours. Multiple occasions of unexcused tardiness and/or absence will result in position termination.
      • Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidentiality.
      • Demonstrates a friendly, approachable and dependable manner.
      • Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills.

      Required Qualifications:
      • Undergraduate students must be registered/enrolled in a minimum of six (6) Fall/Spring units.
      • Post-baccalaureate students in a graduate program must be registered in a minimum of four (4) Fall/Spring units. 
    • Salary Range
    • $17.00 - $18.00 per hour.
